Once the results of your diagnostic evaluation for infertility become available, your physician will work with you to formulate a medically-appropriate, cost-effective plan of care that maximizes your chances of having a baby. During treatment, you will receive educational materials and consult with your doctor and nurses. If you wish, we will refer you to a psychologist for additional counseling.
Each couple’s personalized plan of care may proceed through successive therapy options, depending on your clinical needs and your choices. For women whose evaluation documents a need, minimally-invasive surgery may be performed to repair scarring of the fallopian tubes or uterus, or to remove polyps or fibroids. For men whose semen analysis documents an abnormality, we will refer you to an outstanding Continuum urologist. Medications may be used to stimulate the ovaries to release multiple eggs in a single menstrual cycle, increasing the chance of pregnancy. In cases of mild male infertility, intrauterine insemination (IUI) with or without stimulating medications increases the chance of fertilization. In addition, in vitro fertilization and several associated techniques will be used as necessary.
