Endometrial Biopsy

This test is performed to assess the maturity and normality of the cells lining the uterus.  This information may help the physician detect hormonal abnormalities or precancerous cells affecting the uterus. These biopsies are generally scheduled within four (4) days of the expected menses (11-12 days after ovulation).

A urine pregnancy test will be performed before the biopsy. We recommend that you take 600 mg of ibuprofen 30 minutes before the procedure (unless you have a history of an allergic reaction to ibuprofen or a history of gastritis, a gastric ulcer or bleeding disorder).
